Depends upon where you are. We have some re-enactors in England and Germany where the idea is to live the role, and we do so professionally. Walking about in a historical costume alone is not what we do, but rather bridge from the past to today, to make the past understandable. And yes, we do know of LARP groups who try to relive the past as much as possible.
